NFL Mock Draft 4.0

Image
Author | Michael Weitzner With the biggest part of NFL free agency finished, it’s time for an updated NFL Mock Draft! There haven’t been the major changes to NFL rosters like what we saw at the beginning for free agency (like Hopkins traded to Arizona, Diggs traded to Buffalo, Slay traded to Philadelphia, and of course Tom Brady signing in Tampa). But there were still roster building signings all around the league. If you want to review our previous mock, click here for Mock Draft 3.0 and click here for a breakdown of the Miami Dolphins team need (the name of this blog is “Almost Sports Miami” so don’t be surprised it’s so Dolphins focused). 1.         Cincinnati Bengals – Joe Burrow, QB, LSU We’ve known for months that Burrow was going to be the pick. Don’t overthink it. 2.         Washington Football – Chase Young, Edge, Ohio St. 3.         Detroit Lions – Jeff Okudah, CB, Ohio St. Trading Darius Slay basically carved Jeff Okudah’s name into the tablets at th

Dolphins' Team Needs: Post Free Agency

Author | Michael Weitzner The Miami Dolphins have been the most active team in free agency this season (not typically a good thing). However, last year’s Dolphins’ team was special. Even overlooking the fact that fans of the team used the mantra “Tank for Tua”, multiple starters were traded for draft capital and the rest of the team were below average/terrible. Needless to say, the Dolphins needed to completely reconstruct the roster. Just from last season’s roster, the team is losing 17 (SEVENTEEN) players. Some were deliberately cut from the team—notably Reshad Jones and Daniel Kilgore—while others were outright free agents that the Dolphins are electing not to resign. And just to clarify, ZERO free agents who played for the Dolphins last season have been signed by another franchise since free agency started officially on March 18th. So you made it to paragraph three and you want to know if I’m done crapping on your beloved Miami Dolphins. Well the rest of this article i

Author | Michael Weitzner If you haven’t heard, all hell’s broken loose. First of all, the coronavirus has the entire country (and the world) in social distancing, so expect a lot of mock drafts to come. Second, Tom Brady actually left the Patriots and is going to Tampa Bay?! Third, NFL free agency has started and its turning into NBA free agency where everyone changes teams. Fourth and finally, the NFL league office announced that the 2020 NFL Draft is still happening. Big win for sports fans that need a break from the real world. That all being said, NFL Mock Draft 3.0 is here! If you want to review our previous mocks, click here for Mock Draft 2.0 and here for Mock Draft 1.0 . 1.         Cincinnati Bengals – Joe Burrow, QB, LSU We’ve known for months that Burrow was going to be the pick. Don’t overthink it. 2.         Washington Football – Chase Young, Edge, Ohio St. 3.         Detroit Lions – Jeff Okudah, CB, Ohio St. If you are one to believe that HC Matt P

Author | Michael Weitzner Now that I’ve started to do these mock drafts again, I can’t stop. NFL Mock Draft 2.0 is here! There isn’t much different in the top 5—and there probably won’t be much change until still trades up or one of these teams makes a huge free agency splash. Regardless, there are some guys moving way up (looking at you Patrick Queen) and some who jumped into the first after not making the cut in the last mock draft.  If you want to check out our NFL Mock Draft 1.0, click here! If you want to check out our Draft Over/Under, click here! 1.         Cincinnati Bengals – Joe Burrow, QB, LSU We’ve known for months that Burrow was going to be the pick. Don’t overthink it. 2.         Washington Football – Chase Young, Edge, Ohio St. Every video I see of Young on Twitter reinforces the fact that he is going to be a problem off the edge. 3.         Detroit Lions – Isaiah Simmons, LB, Clemson The best comp for Simmons is Derwin James, who fell to #1

NFL Draft Over/Under: Miami Dolphins

Author | Michael Weitzner Here is the concept for this article: I’m going to talk about each round of the draft as a whole, make a prediction of over/under for picks each round, and discuss what trades could happen (and why the Dolphins might be inclined to make the trade). I might also chat about some draft prospects and which ones I think the Dolphins should be interested in. This article is NOT a mock draft. If you want to check out the Almost Sports Miami mock draft, click here ! So, I’ve been joking for months that the Dolphins’ team needs are as follows: quarterback, running back, tight end, wide receiver, left tackle, left guard, center, right guard, right tackle, 3-4 defensive end, defensive tackle, nose tackle, 4-3 defensive end, weakside linebacker, inside linebacker, strongside linebacker, boundary corner, nickel corner, strong safety, and free safety . . . so every position. While there are a TON of team needs, in reality, there aren’t that many. According

NFL Mock Draft 1.0

Author | Michael Weitzner Guess whose back and better than ever! While I may not be better than ever but I’m definitely back. With the NFL league year starting on March 18th and the Combine finished, it’s time for my first mock draft. I made a rule that I won’t do any mock trades (even though I know damn well that at least one team (*cough cough* Miami Dolphins) will trade up to get a quarterback). 1.         Cincinnati Bengals – Joe Burrow, QB, LSU We’ve known for months that Burrow was going to be the pick. Don’t overthink it. 2.         Washington Football – Chase Young, Edge, Ohio St. Have you watched a second of Young play? He’s clearly the best player in the draft. 3.         Detroit Lions – Jeff Okudah, CB, Ohio St. 4.         New York Giants – Tristan Wirfs, OT, Iowa 5.         Miami Dolphins – Tua Tagovailoa, QB, Alabama I do not think that Tua will still be available at #5. I do think that the Dolphins will ultimately make a trade with the Lions
